When is it better to call a plumber rather than try a do-it-yourself fix?

They typically develop as a result of foreign objects being inadvertently flushed down the toilet or flushed before they fully decompose. Clogs can occur anywhere in your drainage system, but they most frequently occur near the washer and dryer hookup, the shower drain, or the p-trap in your sink.

They will be able to determine the issue and resolve it so you can once again enjoy fresh, clean water. If adjusting the temperature doesn't seem to solve the issue, you should have a professional inspect your water heater.

The plumber can also give advice on how to prevent the problem from happening again in the future. Grease should never be poured down the drain of a kitchen sink. To help remove any foreign objects from the main line, flush toilets twice or more during the same day plumber. Cotton balls, paper towels, and other non-biodegradable materials should not be flushed down the toilet. Additionally, since flushable cat litter and baby wipes do not decompose like toilet paper, do not flush them down the toilet. Before rinsing them into the trash can or garbage disposal, use strainers to collect all of the food scraps.

When you find yourself with a clogged garbage disposal or sink, one thing that you can do to try to fix it is to use a plunger. While this might not work for every type of clog, it is worth trying as a first step.
